Sleep Apnea Treatments
Oral appliances offered by a dentist are becoming the first-line therapy for mild to moderate OSA sufferers due to their high compliance and increasing effectiveness. Even severe sleep apnea patients, if non-compliant with CPAP, are able to get a mandibular advancement device through a dentist. NDX has a variety of mandibular advancement devices which are all cleared for the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
ClearDream®
ClearDream® is an oral appliance for the treatment of snoring and mild to moderate sleep apnea in adults.
How It Works
ClearDream® is a dorsal appliance that uses “fins” on the lower arch to advance the mandible. The ClearDream maintains an open airway using titratable posterior hardware in the upper arch to adjust the degree the lower jaw is moved forward. Made with Clear 450® material, we employ a wax/design/inject manufacturing process that allows the lower arch with fin to be fabricated into one piece, greatly reducing the likelihood of fin breakage.
Advantages
- Durable: Made with Clear 450® material
- Design: Anterior opening for patient comfort, better air flow and additional tongue space.
- Retention: No ball clasps required – the combination of the design and Crystal Clear 450® material achieves sufficient retention
Indications
ClearDream® is intended to reduce night time snoring and mild to moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) in adults.
Contraindications
This device is contraindicated for patients who:
- have central sleep apnea,
- have severe respiratory disorders,
- have loose teeth or advanced periodontal disease,
- are under 18 years of age,
- are missing 1st and 2nd molars in any quadrant
What To Send
- Full upper and lower PVS impressions or digital files
- A Bite Registration – A George Gauge Bite with a 5 mm posterior opening is recommended. If you do not have one available, the ClearDream® Bite Technique is acceptable. An accurate bite is essential for fabrication. Please download the Bite Technique Guide on how to take the bite registration.
dreamTAP®
Sleep apnea is the temporary cessation of breathing during sleep. Typically indicated by snoring, sufferers tend to awaken, gasping for breath. Apnea related disturbances occur repeatedly, resulting in a restless sleep and daytime drowsiness. This disease can cause serious health issues including increased blood pressure and the restriction of oxygen to the brain and blood stream.
How It Works

EMA®
EMA® is a simple, patient-friendly oral appliance for noninvasive treatment of snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Sleep Apnea is the temporary cessation of breathing during sleep. Sleep Apnea sufferers will often snore or awake gasping for breath. Apnea-related disturbances occur repeatedly, resulting in restless sleep and daytime drowsiness. The disease can cause serious health issues including increased blood pressure and the restriction of oxygen to the brain and blood stream. EMA® is relatively less expensive than other oral appliance therapy for sleep apnea.
How It Works:
The primary treatment mechanism of opening the bite and gently moving the mandible forward is achieved using interchangeable elastic straps that offer varying degrees of mandibular advancement. By holding the mandible forward, the EMA® maintains a clear airway to reduce snoring and improve breathing.
Advantages
- Simple: Unobtrusive solution for OSA treatment
- Comfortable: Elastic straps provide unsurpassed lateral movement
- Affordable: Lower cost than many other oral appliance therapies

- Snoring
- Obstructive Sleep Apnea
